Holiday with bike

Mountain and e-biking in the Wipptal

The Wipptal valley and its quiet side valleys offer the perfect spot for your bike: an extensive and well-marked mountain bike and cycle path network awaits you with a total of 17 different routes covering all levels of difficulty, which lead you through the unspoilt alpine nature to many a rustic hut or alpine pasture.

You can also look forward to 2 single trails and the bike park in Steinach am Brenner. The Wipptal is also an important part of the Trans-Alp Munich-Venice long-distance cycle route. Last but not least, many bike benefits await you at Alpengasthof Hohe Burg!

Exploring the Gschnitztal valley on 2 wheels

Going on holiday with your bike in your luggage - in the Gschnitztal valley this is a particularly good idea. Right on our doorstep in Trins in Tyrol, you can set off on a variety of tours in the surrounding area. You can immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the mountains, in the gentle tranquillity of the alpine pastures, breathe the fresh air and enjoy not having any hustle and bustle around you.

Variety for mountain bikers

While on holiday in the Gschnitztal valley, you can enjoy the varied routes on the expansive, well-marked mountain bike and cycle path network spanning some 150 km in the Wipptal valley with easy, medium and difficult tours. No matter whether you are sporty and ambitious or looking for a nice route for the family, there is a suitable tour for everyone.

Challenge yourself with steep climbs to the high-altitude alpine huts, whizz along on the two single trails in Navis and Schmirn or enjoy leisurely pedalling as you explore the valley floor.

E-biking in the Wipptal

The 17 different routes in the Wipptal valley are also all suitable for e-bikes, so you can master even more challenging routes thanks to the electric motor and compensate for differences in endurance and strength in groups. So everyone, young or old, sporty or not, can enjoy the beautiful nature of the mountains in the Wipptal.

At Alpengasthof Hohe Burg, an e-bike rental service is also available (€ 35/day) to help you set off directly into the alpine landscape.

Bike park in Steinach am Brenner

A place to step on the gas on your bike - that's definitely the bike park in Steinach am Brenner. If you haven't had enough of the region's two single trails, you'll find everything your freestyle heart desires here: a warm-up zone to get going, a slopestyle area as well as 2 downhill tracks covering approx. 3 km each in difficulty levels easy and medium.

On the road along the Trans-Alp long-distance cycle route

In the Wipptal you will also find yourself on an important stage of the Trans-Alp long-distance cycle route from Munich to Venice, which runs along the valley floor. You can stop here and fortify yourself at the TRANSALP Hotel Hohe Burg before continuing in one direction or the other. You can also start an MTB Trans-Alp crossing from the Wipptal via the Tuxer Joch.

Bike & Hike

You can't decide between hiking and cycling? Then the "Bike & Hike" concept is just right for you. With a mountain bike or e-bike, you can conquer the first metres of altitude. Then you change and continue on foot. This often takes you even further up and you can enjoy the wide panorama from the summit. Then it's back downhill on the bike and back to the Alpengasthof Hohe Burg in Trins.
